Perfect for Competition and Team Play

Why Our Size 5 PUL Balls Stand Out

Built for real-world play, not just to look like a soccer ball.

Typical Market

Standard Size 5 PVC Ball

Thin Construction
Approx. 1.6 mm PVC cover Machine stitched or glued Basic rubber or unknown bladder
  • Often made with a thin 1.6 mm PVC shell that scuffs and wears faster.
  • Designed to look like a soccer ball more than to endure constant play.
  • Lower-cost bladder materials can lose air more quickly and lose shape.
  • Fine for light, occasional use, but not built with long-term ministry fields in mind.
Reality: These balls are everywhere on the market, but many are “picture balls” first and true play balls second.
Lion Wholesale Size 5

Size 5 – 3.5 mm PUL Ball

Built for Heavy Use
3.5 mm PUL (PU laminate) cover Machine stitched panels 2-ply butyl bladder Includes pump & 2 needles
  • Thicker 3.5 mm cover for better protection against rough surfaces and frequent play.
  • PUL surface gives a softer touch and better grip than thin PVC, especially during active matches.
  • 2-ply butyl bladder holds air longer, keeps a rounder shape, and needs fewer re-inflations.
  • Designed for regular use in clubs, schools, and ministry fields where kids play hard and often.
  • Each ball comes with a compact pump, and the handle hides two needles so you are ready to inflate anywhere.
Bottom line: If you want a Size 5 ball that feels better at the foot, stays in shape, and survives real-world conditions, the 3.5 mm PUL construction with a 2-ply butyl bladder is the better choice.
Where our 2.7 mm PVC balls fit in: For smaller age groups and OCC shoebox packing, Lion Wholesale also offers 2.7 mm machine-stitched PVC balls (Size 4) that are noticeably thicker and tougher than the thin 1.6 mm PVC balls common at this price point. Those PVC balls are a strong, budget-wise option for outdoor ministry and large distributions, while our Size 5 PUL balls are ideal when you need the best feel and durability for older players.

FAQ – Size 5 PUL Soccer Balls

Q: Are your Size 5 soccer balls truly made from PUL?

A: Yes. Our Size 5 balls use a 3.5 mm PUL (PU laminate) cover, and we have had the material third-party tested by Eurofins, a respected global laboratory. The lab confirmed the material is polyurethane (PU) — the correct material for PUL construction.

For full transparency, the test report is publicly available:

Q: Why does PUL matter for a Size 5 ball?

A: PUL gives a softer strike, better grip, cleaner control, and stronger abrasion resistance than thin PVC or vinyl balls. For older kids, teens, and adults, PUL delivers a noticeably better playing experience — especially during active or competitive play.

Q: How does your PUL ball compare to typical market balls?

A: Many Size 5 balls in discount stores use 1.6 mm PVC or vinyl printed to look like a soccer ball. These tend to lose shape, scuff quickly, and deflate faster.

Our Size 5 balls use a 3.5 mm PUL cover and machine-stitched panels, built for real-world use in schools, clubs, parks, and ministry fields where kids play hard and often.

Q: What is the benefit of the 2-ply butyl bladder?

A: A 2-ply butyl bladder provides:

  • Longer air retention

  • Better bounce consistency

  • Improved shape stability

  • Fewer re-inflations needed

This matters in global ministry settings where pumps may not always be available.

Q: Are these soccer balls good for outdoor fields?

A: Yes. The thick 3.5 mm PUL cover and reinforced construction hold up well on rougher terrain — dirt, uneven patches, hard ground, and mixed surfaces often found in international play.

Q: Do the Size 5 PUL balls come inflated?

A: No. All balls ship deflated to protect them during transit and for easier storage and distribution.

Q: Do your PUL balls come with a pump?

A: Yes. Every ball includes a compact hand pump, and the handle safely stores two needles to keep everything together for packing and travel.

Q: How do these compare to your 2.7 mm PVC balls?

A: Our 2.7 mm PVC balls (Size 4) are much thicker and more durable than the common 1.6 mm PVC balls on the market. They’re an excellent, budget-wise option for outreach and OCC shoeboxes, and they hold up well in outdoor play.

Our Size 5 PUL balls go further — offering a better playing feel, longer air retention, and stronger long-term performance — making them ideal for older players and consistent ministry programs.

Q: What age group should use a Size 5 ball?

A: Size 5 is recommended for ages 10 and older, following global soccer standards.

Field tested and approved!

I wrote my original review on 12/12/2024 after owning the soccer balls for several weeks. It's now the end of July and I wanted to post an update. After months of heavy use an "abuse" these soccer balls are holding up great! They are dirty and a little faded, but otherwise ready for another season of soccer! My 13-year old has personally claimed this ball in the picture below and brings it with him to all his soccer practice and games. I highly recommend Lion Wholesale soccer balls.

High quality ball and pump!

We recently purchased these balls and decided to put them to the test. My husband and sons pumped up a few of them and took them to the soccer field to test them out. The pumps work great! I've tested out several brands of small, 4 inch pumps and this one by far worked the best. The balls have great prints and you can tell even before pumping them up that they are well constructed and have thick walls. The guys said the balls performed well and we are extremely happy with our purchase. My sons are excited to use these balls in their upcoming spring soccer season.

Having done our little test, I feel very confident to order more Lion Wholesale balls to send in our OCC Shoeboxes! I really love this company. They have a heartfelt, honest, and sincere commitment to quality gifts to bless children and show God's love. I've now tried several of their products, and I have tremendous confidence that everything Lion Wholesale sells is going to be great quality and a good value.
