Tax-Exempt Purchasing

Buy tax-exempt with the right certificate

We honor valid resale and exemption certificates for eligible buyers. Approval applies to orders shipped to the state(s) covered by your certificate. Requirements vary by state—see options below and submit your documents for review.

We don’t give legal or tax advice. This page explains our process and commonly accepted certificates.

Path A — Resale (for retailers & wholesalers)

Buying goods you’ll resell? Provide a resale certificate for the ship-to state.

  • State resale certificate or MTC Uniform Resale Certificate (if accepted by that state).
  • Your sales tax permit/registration number, when required by the state.
  • Company name + ship-to state must match the certificate.

Path B — Exempt organizations (nonprofit, school, church, government)

Buying for your organization’s exempt use? Provide your state’s exemption certificate or agency letter.

  • State exemption certificate or letter (name must match purchaser).
  • Ship-to state must be covered by the certificate.
  • We can keep a blanket certificate on file for future orders (subject to state rules).

Multi-state certificates we accept

MTC Uniform Sales & Use Tax Resale Certificate (Multijurisdictional)

Accepted by many states as a resale certificate. Check the form’s state list/instructions before using.

Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) Exemption Certificate

Accepted by all Streamlined member states (24). Use for resale or other listed exemptions, as allowed.

Submit your certificate

Some email setups drop attachments—include the URL above as backup.
Can you refund tax on an order I already placed?

Often yes, if you provide a valid certificate that was effective on the order date and the shipment is to the covered state. Some states set deadlines. If we can’t validate, we can’t refund tax.

Does one certificate cover all states?

No. Exemptions are state-specific. Multi-state forms (MTC/SST) are accepted only in states that recognize them.

We’re a church/school/nonprofit. Do we use “resale” or “exempt”?

Use your state’s exemption form for purchases used by your organization. Resale is for buying to resell.

Informational only—not legal/tax advice. Requirements change; consult your tax advisor.

Sales Tax Notice:
We do not collect sales tax in all states. If you live in a state that requires use tax reporting, you may be responsible for submitting that tax directly to your state’s Department of Revenue.
