Choosing a baby doll for a shoebox sounds simple until you actually start shopping.

For a true WOW toy, I prefer a 10-inch to 12-inch baby doll.

That size feels substantial, is easier for small hands to hold, looks more like a real baby, and still fits well inside a shoebox. Smaller dolls can work as fillers, but if the doll is meant to be the main gift, I want it to feel meaningful.

For price, I think under $10 is a very good price for a nice shoebox doll. If you can find a good-quality doll under $6, that is a huge win — but only if it is still well-made. Cheap is not a blessing if the doll looks bad, smells bad, or falls apart quickly.
