Which Ball Should I Choose?

Both options are built to last. One is simply engineered to go even further.

Good

Size 4 – 2.7 mm PVC Ball

Proven, All-Purpose Durability
Machine stitched PVC cover 2.7 mm thickness Rubber bladder
  • Durable 2.7 mm PVC shell that holds up well on grass, dirt, and rough outdoor surfaces.
  • Smooth PVC cover wipes clean easily and handles moisture and dust in real-world fields.
  • Reliable rubber bladder provides consistent air pressure for everyday training and play.
  • Trusted style of ball used widely in communities where replacement options are limited.
  • Strong value for camps, outreach events, and large group distribution where budget matters.
Bottom line: A tough, proven ball for outdoor ministry, camps, and community play when you need dependable performance at a lower cost.
Best

Size 4 – 3.5 mm PUL Ball

Upgraded Feel & Long-Term Performance
Machine stitched PUL (PU laminate) cover 3.5 mm thickness 2-ply butyl bladder
  • Thicker 3.5 mm cover absorbs impact better for a softer, more comfortable strike.
  • PUL surface offers improved grip and control compared to standard PVC, especially during active, high-touch play.
  • Extra thickness helps the ball keep its shape longer under frequent, heavy use.
  • 2-ply butyl bladder holds air longer than basic rubber, meaning fewer re-inflations and more consistent bounce.
  • More stable internal structure for a truer shape and steadier flight over the life of the ball.
Bottom line: Built for programs that play hard and often. Better feel at the foot, longer air retention, and greater longevity make this the best choice when you want fewer replacements and a higher-quality experience.
*Both options are durable. The upgraded PUL cover, thicker 3.5 mm construction, and 2-ply butyl bladder are what set the premium ball apart over time.

FAQ

Q: Are your 3.5 mm PUL soccer balls really made from PUL?

A: Yes. We had our 3.5 mm cover material third-party tested by Eurofins, a respected global testing laboratory. The laboratory confirmed the material is polyurethane (PU), which is what PUL (PU laminate) is made from.

You may see competitors suggest that our balls “can’t be PUL because of the price,” but the independent lab results say otherwise.

For transparency, we’ve shared the report publicly:

PUL Test Report: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0621/4792/0055/files/Redacted_PUL_test_report.pdf?v=1763090222

Q: Why does the test report matter?

A: Many lower-quality balls are simply thin PVC or vinyl printed with a soccer pattern.

Our 3.5 mm balls are genuine PUL, which means:

  • Softer touch and better grip

  • Stronger abrasion resistance

  • More consistent shape

  • Better long-term performance

  • Higher durability under frequent use

The lab report gives you confidence that the ball you’re choosing is exactly what we claim it is.

Q: How do your machine-stitched balls compare to others on the market?

A: Most inexpensive machine-stitched balls use 1.6 mm PVC, or they’re made from basic vinyl with a soccer print.

Our PVC balls use a 2.7 mm thick cover, which is sturdier, more durable outdoors, and holds up better in real-world field conditions.

Our PUL balls use an even thicker 3.5 mm cover plus a 2-ply butyl bladder for improved air retention and performance.

Q: What bladder materials do your balls use, and why does it matter?

A:

  • PVC balls (Size 4): Rubber bladder — reliable, flexible, and proven in rough outdoor play.

  • PUL balls (Size 3, 4, 5): 2-ply butyl bladder — holds air longer, keeps a rounder shape, and needs fewer re-inflations.

A better bladder means the ball stays playable longer, especially in communities where pumps are hard to find.

Q: Do your soccer balls include a pump?

A: Yes. Every ball set includes a compact pump, and the handle holds two inflation needles so they don’t get lost during packing or travel.

Q: Which ball size is right for the age group?

A:

  • Size 3: Ages 2–4

  • Size 4: Ages 5–9 (most common for OCC shoeboxes)

  • Size 5: Ages 10 and older

These follow standard global soccer sizing.

Q: Are your soccer balls good for outdoor play?

A: Yes. Both PVC and PUL hold up well outdoors.

PVC is especially tough on rougher surfaces.

PUL offers better grip and touch.

Both are well-suited for ministry fields and community play worldwide.

Might be my favorite Lion Wholesale soccer ball!!!

I received a few of these today and LOVE them. I pumped them up and they are awesome! I love the new designs. My favorite is the white and blue one. My son is going to test it one out on the soccer field this year and I'll report back on the quality after some real field play.
